Percussion Arranger

Jacksonville State University, B.A.


A native of Fairhope, AL, Joe Fant uprooted from Nashville, TN in November of 2011 and relocated back to the Gulf Coast. His teaching experience started with the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps in 1997 and 1998 and with the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps where he taught the bass drum line from 99-01, achieving 2 I&E titles. Joe then taught the undefeated Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps in 2002 and with the Santa Clara Vanguard in 2005.

He was a staff member with Music City Mystique in 2002, 2003, and 2008 to present including the 2011 WGI Gold Medalists. His marching experience includes 3 years with Southwind and 4 with The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps. As a marching member, he earned a DCI Division 2 Championship and a DCI Division 1 Championship as well as 2 DCI High Percussion awards. He was the arranger/caption head of the Newnan HS Indoor Percussion Ensemble from Newnan, Georgia in 2001 and 2002. In 2002, the drumline placed 5th in the Percussion Scholastic A Class at the WGI Championships.

Previously, Joe was the Marching Percussion Marketing and Product Manager for Pearl Corporation and now works for MakeMusic Inc. He has been the percussion caption head for the 24 time Tennessee State Champion McGavock High School and a member of the winter percussion staff for the 2 time WGI Scholastic Open Finalists, Harpeth High School since 2008 and continues to be an in demand adjudicator for Fall Marching Band in Oregon, Colorado, Nevada; the Minnesota Percussion Association, SCGC, CIPA, CWEA, GCGC, TCGC, NWAPA, and LCGPC Indoor Percussion Circuits.


Color Guard Director

Phillip Davis has been the color guard director with Fairhope High School Band for over 15 years. He also has taught, performed, competed and judged various forms of pageantry for over 20 years.  Color guards, drum majors, dance lines, majorettes, cheerleading, show choirs and pageants are just a few of the activities he has been involved in. He marched Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps back in the late 80’s. Phillip is also a local graphic/web designer and is currently employed with Dogwood Productions in Mobile.
Phillip is married and has two children. His interests include art, design, sports, running, various mediums of music and dance.

DJ White is the percussion director and has worked with the Fairhope High School drum line for over 5 years. He is also an alumni of the drum line program as a performing member and captain of the line.
DJ received his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of South Alabama and currently works for a local investigative firm.
Obviously he enjoys “drumming” and he gives private lessons in his spare time to elementary, middle and high school students interested in learning more about percussion. He has performed with various groups throughout the area. He is also a consultant and designer for the color guard program here at Fairhope.
DJ enjoys music, sports including fitness and running. He also works with the youth department at his local church where he has organized a worship band to perform and lead worship at church functions and to further the development of students pursuing careers in the music industry.
